The Monte Amiata Wildpark is set in a mountainous area of particular natural and landscape uses methodologies and solutions exhibiting modern and respectful of the animals and provides the ideal environment for the presence and observation of many species of wildlife .
The Monte Amiata Wildpark is a novelty in the Parks nationwide. Inspired by the Wildpark Germans and, in a very nice area in terms of landscape and environment, proposes a series of large integrated wildlife areas.
Inside the park, a trail system, which must never be abandoned and special facilities such as seating, allow the sighting, without intervening physical barriers between visitors and animals of many species naturally occurring in the central Apennines.

The park is rich in wildlife that has or has had in the past, a role in the ecological balance of the Apennines. The nature trail, a little more challenging than other paths, it develops into a beautiful gorge, full of water.
Along this path it is possible the observation and cataloging of many species of plants, often endemic or rare.
Taking into hiking trails you can easily meet Fallow Deer, deer, mouflon, roe deer and chamois and also many other mammals, naturally occurring, such as Hedgehog, the Fox, Badger, Weasel, Weasel, Skunk, Rabbit, Squirrel, Dormouse, Wild Boar, and others, but what we can give you a unique emotion is definitely the opportunity to sighting of the Apennine Wolf, in his great wildlife area.
There are many, even in the world, the opportunities that allow you to walk among deer and fallow deer and, at the same time, spot the Apennine wolf!

Petriolo Thermal Baths

The therapeutic properties of the hot springs of Petriolo Thermal Baths were known in the past: Petriolo was attended by many nobles (for example famous Medici and Gonzaga families).

The water is salt-sulfate-bicarbonate-alkaline-sulphurous hyperthermal (43 ° C) and contains a very high rate of sulfur and carbon. It is used for baths, mud, inhalations, facial masks very effective in treating skin diseases, respiratory problems, orthopedic and arthrorheumatism.

The sulphurous water gushes from the springs and falls in the river Farma with a series of waterfalls and pools carved into the rocks where you can swim. Access is free.

The particularity of Petriolo is that in the same place you have two completely different situations: at one side the hot waters of the thermal spring and on the other the cold waters of the river Farma. So Petriolo is very indicated fot those who suffer circulatory disorders.

The place is enchanting both in summer and winter, but it could be very crowded especially on Saturday night.

Petriolo Thermal Baths is near the town of Monticiano, in the province of Siena, situated on the road that connects Siena to Grosseto. The enviroment is natural and enchanting – there’s a forest made of oaks, holms and strawberry trees.

Its origins is ancient, dating back to 1230. You can still admire Roman tombs and the ancient medieval bath, made of 4 rooms. On the top of the nowadays bath there’s a Romanesque church and a small bell tower (1276).

The Thermal Spa Saturnia

These thermal baths lie in a splendid natural environment near charming falls of freely accessible sulphureous waters.
From the spring sulphureous-carbonic-sulphate-bicarbonate-alkaline-earthy water, at a temperature of 37,5 C°, mud-baths are prepared and “bioglea” can be extracted for thermal cosmetics.

This water is even used in rehabilitation.
Inside the thermal spa Saturnia, besides courses of yoga, water gymnastics, dietetical programmes, you can benefit by invigoratig, moisturizing, skin-renforcing treatments , as well as specific antiage treatment and general wellbeing of body and face, and finally, antistress and fitness treatments.

Saturnia lies in an area that is inhabited at least since the XII century B. C., or rather since the Late Villanovia Era. Attributable to this period are indeed the stonework city walls and the Necropolis of Puntone.

Situated along Clodia road, Saturnia was also a Roman centre, of which just some parts of the walls, the foundations of some buildings and the ruins of a thermal bath, known as “bagno secco” (“dry bath”), are left.
In the valley below, towards Montemerano, there are the thermal baths of Saturnia, whose sulphureous water gushes out at a temperature of 37 C °.
